A little bit about us

My name is Ryan (on the left) and my husband’s name is Lloyd (on the right). P.S. You're damn right we cropped the bride out of this pic. It's not very often we have a good pic of us both together and she had her moment.

We have been happily married for nearly 5 years and we live in a little village in rural Wiltshire with our cat Dave.

A little bit about Above avg.

As you can probably see we are polar opposites in terms of physical body type as we tend to be attracted to our opposites and neither of us really like our own physical appearance. Because of our inability to see the beauty in ourselves this has lead to a lot of self-confidence issues, anxiety and depression.

With constant access to social media showing us thousands of beautiful men up close and personal it is all too easy to look at someone you find attractive on your phone and then look at the mirror and struggle to find even a single quality in common which you deem attractive. Being gay we are attracted to our own sex, and if you are not your own “type” it is nearly impossible to see the beauty that others do and realize that no matter what your body type is there are people out there that find you beautiful and think you are “Above Avg.”

Over the past couple of years I have used social media to try and boost my self-confidence and prove to myself that whilst I don’t find myself attractive, there are people that do. I am not alone in looking for a few likes and a few follows to re-assure myself and make me feel a little bit better. I have bought harnesses, fetish wear and jockstraps after seeing them on other people only to get them home and be disappointed in how they don’t look anywhere near as good on me due to skimpy sizing or the assumption that a guy who wears a XXXL must be 6’4”, or my pet peeve is a waistband that curls over itself because its not made for a guy with a muffin top!

With this in mind I decided to see if I could get my own jockstraps made. I wanted a chucky waistband that doesn’t curl, a soft pouch that isn’t so small I fall out of the sides and straps that attach to the pouch between your legs without causing that stiff bit that rubs between your thighs ( if you know, you know the pain). Apparently I am not alone as lots of people I spoke to about the idea had exactly the same thoughts on the generics jockstraps available.

We live in a great time that more and more people feel safe to come out as LGBTQ+ but we have also seen a huge a rise in mental health issues due after Covid-19 and no sign of social media becoming less popular so I wanted to try and use my brand to raise awareness for how hard body positivity can be and also raise money for mental health charities and LGBTQ+ charities to offer support and guidance for those that are struggling.

Why monochrome for an LGBTQ+ brand ?

We want you to feel great about yourself when you are wearing our products, if you take selfies wearing them then you should be the focus. We don’t want to steal any attention from you because you are all the colours of the rainbow and we are just here frame that beauty.
